“Oh no I thought you adopted scabbers": Emma Watson Saving a Rat From Death Receives Wild Reactions From Harry Potter Fans

Emma Watson is an incredibly brave person. Well, she is intelligent and talented, and above all, she is a ‘huge’ animal lover, who is even unafraid of a rat. That’s truly evident from her recent social media post.

In fact, the Little Women actress revealed a little-known fact about herself involving mice. She used Instagram to share a pretty random, but adorably sweet tale of redemption. It has once again been proved how these admirable endeavors intersect with her Hollywood work.

Watson’s recent Instagram post shows how the actress courageously rescued a rat from her pets’ attacks.

Ever since she debuted as Hermione Granger in the beloved Harry Potter films, Emma Watson has become one of the most well-known actors. Although she was not the biggest fan of the constant spotlight, the billion-dollar Harry Potter film franchise put the English actress right in the center of global fame.

Since then, she has continued to shine in roles like Belle in Beauty and the Beast and Margaret ‘Meg’ March in Greta Gerwig’s Oscar-nominated movie, Little Women. The actress is famous for her roles in several blockbusters, but she is also recognized for her support of kindness and equality.

She recently shared how she shielded a rat from her pets’ attacks. The 33-year-old actress introduced the world to her new best friend, Jerry, on social media. The caption that followed the image of the Beauty and the Beast star described the terrible fate that young Jerry nearly met:

Watson captioned a picture of a small, terrified rat she was holding.

“Lesser known fact – We had cats growing up and it was always my job in our family to “save the mice.’ This guy I named Jerry. It was a pretty near miss because both the cat and the dog had him cornered under the settee. I really hope he doesn’t risk his health again for a chocolate digestive biscuit. It’s not worth it Jerry! I might not be there!!!!!!!”

Harry Potter fans have referenced many important plot points in this post’s comments, as might be expected. Emma Watson admittedly took a break from acting after riding the wave of the Harry Potter films, but even she might have probably laughed as she read fans’ responses to her new post. One fan joked:

“Oh no I thought you adopted scabbers.”

While the one asked:

“Wait, is that Peter Pettigrew?”

Another added:

“Hermione feeding Wormtail to Crookshanks. The plot twist we all deserved.”

One person expressed concern for ‘Jerry’:

“Most importantly, did Jerry get the chocolate digestive biscuit?”

Fans are aware that Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint—stars of the Harry Potter films—grew up right before our eyes. Additionally, they have previously openly discussed how Hollywood has made them feel restricted.

But, we are glad Watson did not give up on one of the most endearing Harry Potter characters because she earlier claimed to have almost done. She revealed the reason in 2010.

“I think I probably would have been public enemy number one. I would not have been very popular. I think I would have found it very difficult watching the movies being made without me being a part of them.”

The actress concluded:

“I grew up making them. Being part of that film franchise feels like part of my identity in a way. Things only would have been a little easier if we would have got a lot more sleep.”

The actress was last seen in 2022’s Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts, which is available to stream on HBO Max.
